Look good, feel good

Woman face

What did you see when you looked in the mirror this morning?  Did you only see the lines and where things are starting to sag?  Seeing the effects of the passing years can be depressing.  It’s hard to feel great about yourself, when your mirror is telling you a different story.

It’s a fact that, when you look good, you feel good.  Think about when you get all dressed up for a special occasion; you know you look great with a new outfit and hairdo – and you feel fabulous.  The problem is you can’t always disguise the lines, wrinkles and sagging skin with make-up; no matter how creative you are!

There’s nothing worse than make-up that’s too heavy, in an attempt to cover over the lines.  You know that after a while the make-up just sits in those laughter lines around your eyes, or your lipstick bleeds into the lines along your top lip – and nobody is fooled.

But you don’t have to put up with it.  You can have a face make-over that will make you feel just as good as that new outfit and hairstyle.  Dare we mention it?  Botox!

To give it it’s correct medical name, Botulinum Toxin – but it’s more often referred to by one of its trade names.  However, it has got some bad press – even though most of that is old news, it’s stuck.  The examples of bad treatments are still all over the internet – but that’s not how it works today.

That frozen-faced look is ancient history.  The trout-pout is no longer a likely outcome of Botox treatment; just ask our many patients all around Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.  They just look fantastic (and feel equally great) with smooth youthful skin.

Anti-ageing is big business today and you don’t have to be a celebrity or a high-flying London executive to want to look good.  Our patients come from local towns like St Albans, Luton and Harpenden – and they look younger, have got control of the natural ageing process and have that feel-good-factor that makes them glow.

In the hands of experts a Botox treatment simply smooths away the lines.  It doesn’t immobilise your face completely so you lose your natural expressions; it just softens the muscle movements so the lines aren’t carved into your face.

Many of our patients opt for a combined approach using Botox to prevent lines deepening and dermal fillers to fill the lines out and restore a smooth, youthful skin.  It’s definitely not an ‘either/or’ situation – in fact, we encourage people to come for a Harmony Consultation before they embark on a treatment.  This way they have the opportunity to discuss their goals with a doctor and a course of treatments developed that works for their particular aspirations.

So – don’t be afraid of the frozen-face effect; it won’t happen, you’ll just look younger, more relaxed – and happier, because you know you look great!
