Redefine your profile

Published on August 6, 2015 by

Nobody wants to look like a ‘senior citizen’ (even you happen to be one), the emphasis is on youth, energy and vibrancy, looking younger is important and affects how people treat you.

So – you want to restore that profile you had in your youth and banish the jowls and sagging chin – what are your options?

There are three options:

  • An R-lift using dermal fillers strategically placed (and featured in Tatler in 2015)
  • Ultherapy – using Ultrasound to regenerate the tissues and continue working over up to a year
  • A surgical facelift – requiring a hospital inpatient visit and a general anaesthetic.

The R-lift

Dr Jain created the amazing ‘R’ Lift as an alternative to cosmetic surgery.

It’s a non-surgical facelift where strategically placed injections of dermal fillers are used to restore the natural structure of your face. Think of it like a sculptor developing your face from a basic structure.

The procedure is unique as Dr Jain has developed the technique where a cannula is run beneath the skin’s surface, helping to break the fibrous bands that fuse skin to muscle and fade deep wrinkles. He uses dermal fillers such as Emervel or Restylane, which are injected into, usually, just two points on either side of your face.

The first point is adjacent to your cheekbone, which helps to plump out sunken eye sockets and hollow temples, removing that gaunt look and recreating the smooth, curve of your cheek that you had in your youth.

The second point is beside the corner of your mouth. This sharpens the jawline and smooths away any lines around your lips.

The result is a natural, but younger-looking, you! It’s a subtle change, but you’ll be surprised at how many people will compliment you on how well you’re looking.

Ultherapy

If you’ve been holding back on having treatment done because you don’t like the idea of injections, you’ll love Ultherapy! It’s had some bad press over the years as the original treatment was quite painful – but that’s all history now. Today’s treatment is non-invasive and not painful at all.

One treatment lasts as long as 18-24 months – and best of all the results develop over time as, once your tissue has been ‘woken up’ with the ultrasound waves, it starts working harder improving the results more and more as the months pass. That means that nobody but you will notice any specific change – although you’ll certainly get more than your fair share of compliments!

Ultherapy is safe, painless and has no downtime so you can return to work, go to lunch with friends in nearby Harpenden or hit the shops down the road in St Albans and nobody will be any the wiser.

Surgical facelift

This is a bigger decision as it involves a hospital stay, a general anaesthetic and recovery time as there is almost always bruising. It takes time for the incisions to heal too.

Riverbanks Wellness® doesn’t offer surgical facelifts, but if you would like to know more about them please do talk to our doctors who will advise you and can put you in touch with skilled cosmetic surgeons.
