What is VASER Male Breast Reduction?

VASER stands for ‘Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance’. It uses ultrasound waves to liquefy fat cells, making them easier to extract. The liquefied fat can then be gently suctioned out through a small needle. It’s a perfect solution for gynaecomastia, whether the condition is the result of hormonal changes or excess weight.

Technique

The VASER technique

First you will be given a mild sedative and put into a ‘twilight state’ where you feel relaxed and sleepy. We will make one or two small incisions in your nipple zone and insert a small probe. This will emit ultrasound waves to break down and liquefy fat cells. We’ll then use a small needle to gently suction out the liquefied fat. The treatment takes about 45 minutes and, due to the twilight anaesthesia, is a comfortable experience.

Results

How will I feel?

Your chest will feel tight and sore, a bit like you’ve done too many bench presses, but it’s not usually painful enough to need more than 1 or 2 days off work. You’ll be given a course of antibiotics and have to wear a compression garment for 6 weeks to maximise skin retraction and minimise any bleeding or swelling. After you have fully healed, you should notice a 50% reduction in pinch thickness in your breasts. These results are permanent and will boost your confidence and allow you to wear clothes that are more fitted.

  • What is the treatment used for? add_circle
    VASER is used to treat gynaecomastia, the medical name for the enlargement of a man’s breasts, a condition typically caused by age, weight gain or a hormone imbalance. The VASER treatment liquefies the fat cells in the breast and gently suctions them out, with the aim of producing a 50% reduction in pinch thickness in the breasts. VASER can be used to treat excess fat in other areas of the body too, such as the back, tummy, buttocks, thighs and the underside of the arms.

    The results are permanent as long as a healthy lifestyle is maintained.
  • Is the treatment painful? add_circle
    Once you have been sedated, you shouldn’t feel any pain at all.
  • Can anything go wrong? add_circle
    It’s very unusual for anything to go wrong with VASER liposuction. You may experience changes in nipple sensitivity. This can last up to 6 months and in rare cases can be permanent. Chronic pain is uncommon.
