VBeam Laser

Time to live life with confidence

VBEAM laser treatment is the gold standard for treating redness, rosacea, and visible blood vessels safely and effectively. At Riverbanks Clinic, we do not approach vascular concerns as one-off treatments. Instead, we focus on structured correction programmes designed to deliver consistent, long-term results. VBEAM laser treatment is the gold standard for treating redness, rosacea, and visible blood vessels safely and effectively. At Riverbanks Clinic, we approach vascular concerns differently. Most patients come to us after trying creams or occasional treatments that have not delivered lasting results. The reason is simple. Redness and rosacea are progressive conditions that require a structured approach rather than isolated treatments. Our focus is on long-term vascular correction, not temporary improvement. This is why we design treatment plans that work with the biology of the skin to achieve consistent and stable outcomes.

OVERVIEW

VBeam Laser

VBEAM is a pulsed dye laser that targets haemoglobin within blood vessels. By selectively heating these vessels, the laser reduces redness, flushing, and visible veins while preserving the surrounding skin.

This treatment is particularly effective for rosacea, thread veins, and general facial redness. Most patients notice improvement after a single session, however meaningful correction requires a course of treatment.

In clinical practice, three sessions typically deliver visible improvement, while six sessions are required to achieve correction and stability.

I have been a client at Riverbanks Clinic for many years and more recently started a course of VBeam with Sonal to improve my rosacea. My course is now finished and my skin vastly improved. The Riverbanks standard is continually high and the results they give, exceed expectations.

You have no idea how much you have changed my life. I was self-conscious of my face and would never leave the house without layers of foundation. By removing those horrible veins, I feel so much better in myself and even forget to wear makeup sometimes!

You’ve done a lot to help me - it’s not just changed my skin, it has genuinely changed my life. I wish I’d done it years ago.

I have been experiencing acne for several years now as a young adult, and began VBeam Laser treatment late in 2020. I have now had seven treatment sessions and my skin is noticeably less red and raw. The redness is now less prominent and widespread on my face. I still have a way to go to fully remove the red marks from my face, but I am closer now than I have been with any other treatment.

I have had three sessions of VBeam with Sonal at Riverbanks. As a man of 40, I’d struggled with rosacea, acne and thread veins since I was in my late teens. It affected my confidence - I would cancel personal plans and not show up to work when I had flare ups. After a few sessions of VBeam, my skin is going through a transformation. I feel more confident and my friends and family have noticed just how much my skin has improved. It’s changed my life, and I’m very grateful for Sonal’s support throughout my treatment. It stings a little bit, but it’s so worth it. Thank you.

The VBeam treatment from Sonal has changed my skin. I suffered for years with redness and wish I had done the treatment ages ago as it's so effective. Sonal is lovely and her knowledge about skin is incredible.

Layered Precision

Target the underlying vascular cause, not just the visible redness

Different blood vessels sit at different depths within the skin and vary in size, which is why a single setting is not always sufficient. During treatment, we often use multiple passes with carefully adjusted parameters to target both superficial and deeper vessels in a controlled way.

Larger, deeper vessels may require higher energy and different pulse durations, while finer, more superficial vessels respond better to gentler settings. By layering the treatment in this way, we can achieve more complete clearance while maintaining safety and minimising unnecessary trauma to the surrounding skin.

Process

You’ll always know what to expect

Treatment begins with a doctor-led consultation, with the fee being redeemable against treatment if carried out within 28 days. During this consultation, we assess the type and severity of vascular involvement and determine whether a targeted, medium, or full face approach is required.

Once a plan is agreed, treatments are performed at intervals of approximately four to six weeks. At the halfway point, usually after the third session, progress is reviewed and settings are adjusted where necessary to optimise results.

Following completion of the course, patients are advised on a maintenance strategy to preserve outcomes and reduce recurrence of redness.

How will I feel?

During the actual procedure there may be slight snapping sensations but VBeam Laser treatment is proven to be safe, with minimal pain or downtime. Depending on the treatment, you may find that the treated area is slightly swollen, sensitive and feels warm. Some patients may also experience light bruising lasting a couple of days but which can be concealed with makeup.

I’ve spoken to many patients over the years living with rosacea, persistent redness, port wine stains, and other vascular skin conditions who have often tried multiple treatments without lasting success. I’m pleased to now offer VBEAM laser as a reliable, medically-led solution. It delivers controlled, targeted pulses of energy to the vessels, allowing us to treat the condition safely while achieving visible improvement, often from the very first session.

FAQS

Treatment Questions

  • How many sessions will I need? add_circle
The number of sessions varies depending on the condition and how established it is.

Angiomas often respond quickly. Many can be treated in 1 to 2 sessions, although larger or deeper lesions may need additional treatment.

Nasal thread veins typically require 1 to 3 sessions. Smaller vessels clear quickly, while more extensive networks may take a little longer.

Rosacea usually requires a course of 6 sessions. This allows for progressive reduction in redness and better long-term stability.

Port wine stains tend to need more treatment as they are deeper and more complex. Most patients require six to eight sessions, and sometimes ongoing maintenance.

Scars with associated redness often improve over 3 to 5 sessions, depending on how vascular the scar is.

Acne vulgaris can improve within 3 to 4 sessions, particularly when targeting inflammation, although it is often combined with other treatments for optimal results.
  • Why not just have one session? add_circle
One session may improve the appearance, but it does not correct the underlying vascular instability. A course is required for meaningful results.

Patients often see visible improvement after their first session. After three sessions, there is typically a meaningful reduction in redness and vascular visibility. After six sessions, most patients achieve a level of correction and stability that is not possible with isolated treatments.

Those who complete a full programme generally require fewer long-term interventions and experience more consistent results.
  • Is the treatment painful? add_circle
You may experience a mild snapping sensation during the procedure, often compared to a light elastic band against the skin. The treatment is generally well tolerated by most patients as the device includes an integrated cooling system, which helps protect the skin and significantly improves comfort throughout the treatment.

After treatment, we recommend keeping the skin cool and well hydrated. Avoid heat exposure such as hot showers, saunas, and intense exercise for the first 24 hours. Use a gentle cleanser, apply a simple moisturiser, and wear a high-factor SPF daily to protect the skin. If any swelling occurs, this can be helped with cool compresses. It is also important to avoid active skincare products such as retinoids or exfoliating acids for a few days until the skin has settled.
  • What is the downtime? add_circle
Most patients experience mild redness for one to two days. Some may notice slight swelling for up to 5 days.Downtime is usually minimal. Most patients experience mild redness for one to two days, similar to a light sunburn. Some may notice slight swelling, particularly in areas such as the cheeks or around the eyes, which can last up to five days.

If bruising settings are used, there may be visible purpura that can last around five to seven days before fading. Most patients are able to return to normal daily activities immediately, although we advise avoiding heat, exercise, and alcohol for the first 24 hours to support optimal recovery.
  • Are results permanent? add_circle
Results can be long-lasting, but they are not always permanent. The vessels we treat are effectively reduced or removed, however your skin can form new vessels over time, particularly if you are prone to redness or rosacea.

For this reason, most patients benefit from occasional maintenance. Typically, one to two sessions per year is enough to maintain the results and keep the skin stable.
  • Will it bruise? add_circle
Bruising (purpura) is not always necessary. VBEAM can be delivered in both bruising and non-bruising modes, depending on the treatment goal and your preference.

Non-bruising settings are often chosen for convenience, as they involve minimal downtime, but they usually require more sessions to achieve the same level of clearance. Bruising settings are more aggressive and can produce faster results, particularly for deeper or more resistant vessels.

Even when non-bruising mode is used, a small amount of bruising can occasionally occur, although this is typically mild and short-lived.
  • Is the treatment safe? add_circle
Yes. When performed in a medical setting with a proper consultation, accurate diagnosis, and carefully selected treatment parameters, VBEAM is a safe and well-established procedure.

Safety comes down to experience and control. At Riverbanks Clinic, treatments are doctor-led, with settings tailored to your skin type, vascular condition, and response at each stage. This reduces risk and ensures the treatment remains both effective and predictable over time.
  • What are the risks? add_circle
Temporary redness and mild swelling are common after treatment and usually settle within a few hours to a couple of days. Some patients may experience light bruising, particularly when treating more visible vessels, but this is temporary and resolves on its own.

Serious complications are rare when treatment is carried out correctly. These can include post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation, superficial burns, blistering, scarring, uneven skin tone, or infection. At Riverbanks Clinic, careful skin assessment, appropriate parameter selection, and strict aftercare guidance are used to minimise these risks and support safe, predictable healing.
  • What is the next step? add_circle
The next step is to book a doctor-led consultation so we can assess your skin and determine the most appropriate treatment plan. Please call the clinic on 01582 762877 to arrange your appointment. The consultation fee is redeemable against treatment if you proceed within one month.
